In 19th century Kyoto, the age of the Geisha was present. Hundreds of men flocked into tea houses to experience the grace and beauty of these beautiful entertainers. A Geisha, literally meaning artist, is a cultural symbol of Japanese culture. They are hand picked by "Oka-san" and are taught in the art of performance and grace from a young age, to pleasure men and to earn money. Will these Geisha be exceptional? Or failures? Will they master the arts? Will the Dannas enjoy their presence? Only time will tell, in the Sensaina hana....


Possible Characters:

Geisha - Geishas are traditional Japanese female entertainers who act as hostesses and whose skills include performing various arts such as classical music, dance, games and conversation, mainly to entertain male customers. Often mistaken for prostitutes, the women in fact sell their talent for entertaining and not their bodies to the rich and powerful. Geisha are single women, though they may have lovers or boyfriends whom they have personally picked, who support them financially. They may gracefully flirt with their (often infatuated) guests, but they will always remain in control of the hospitality.

Maiko - Maiko translates to ‘dancing girl’ or ‘child’, and refers to apprentice Geisha. They undergo about 5 years of training in various arts, before graduating to become Geisha. Their jobs consist of performing songs, dances, and playing the shamisen or the koto for visitors during feasts. Maiko are usually aged 15 to 20 years old and become Geisha after learning how to dance the traditional kyomai dances, play the shamisen, and learning Kyō-kotoba (dialect of Kyoto), regardless of their origins.

Danna - It was traditional in the past for established geisha to take a Danna, or patron. A Danna was typically a wealthy man, sometimes married, who had the means to support the very large expenses related to a geisha's traditional training and other costs. A geisha and her danna may or may not be in love, but intimacy is never viewed as a reward for the danna's financial support. While it is true that a geisha is free to pursue personal relationships with men she meets through her work, such relationships are carefully chosen and unlikely to be casual. A hanamachi tends to be a very tight-knit community and a geisha's good reputation is not taken lightly.

Customer - Usually a man who makes an appointment with the Okiya to be entertained by Geisha. They are mostly high-class and have a chance at becoming a danna.

Personality:
Yukiko is a quiet girl who speaks only if spoken too. Though she may be a woman of little words, her ideas are brilliant and if you choose to speak to her, you will most definitely not regret it.  Even though Yukiko may have mastered etiquette, she is quite clumsy and often trips over her kimono(Much to her dismay). She shows a lot of respect toward her peers, even her closest friends, but once you know her for a while, she’ll slowly open up to you. Being one of the older Geisha, she's rather motherly and likes to help out the Maiko that are below her.
Appearance:
Yukiko is short and slim, her height being only 5’1. Her long, ebony, black hair is usually put into a stylish loose bun or ponytail, accessorized with a Yamazakura flower(Though, when performing it is put into a taka shimada style). Her skin is quite tan, driving from her Ainu, Nivkh, and Orok roots, but she often puts heavy amounts of pale rice powder makeup to cover it up. Of course, she only wears the full geisha make-up when preforming, so for the most part she goes natural when at home.

Personality: A timid, gentle sort of person. Matt is rather introverted and shy, and even a coward at times. However, he's very intelligent and artistic. He's also very polite, sometimes painfully so. Is also weak, and gets sick a lot.
Brief Appearance: Being a foreigner, Matt tends to stand out in a crowd, with his pale complexion, light brown hair, and blue eyes. He usually dresses formally but practically.

Position: Maiko under Misaki
Personality: Misako was 14 when she first started her training to be a geisha. She came to the Okiya having fled the crime filled streets of Tokyo. She was chosen as Misaki's underling and has been grateful ever since. Her training as a maiko is coming to a close and she has learned many rules and tricks of the trade. Misako is very upbeat person. She is always trying to make herself and life for other people better. Whether she achieves this through entertainment or a smile, she'll try to change your world. Misako is a smart young woman who has perfected her skills on manipulating men. She usually puts up a cutsie front, but is more of a cool and collected temptress. She has mastered many languages and tongues due to her well educated older sister.
Brief Appearance: Misako has thick, fluffy, black hair that reaches far past her shoulders. The length of her hair serves as an advantage, so she can wear many complicated styles. She stands at 5'5 and has slender curves. She has larger breasts that she conceals under binding, as she doesn't want to attract too much attention. Her eyes are blue with tints of crimson, making them seem purple in darker lighting.

Age: 30
Home Province/Country: Kyoto, Japan
Position (If Danna, who are you sponsoring): "Oka-chan" and Geisha
Personality: Adakichi is the oka-chan and mistress of Sensaina hana. Although she is younger than most oka-chans,  she is extremely dedicated and diligent in preserving the okiya. She is normally quiet and observant. She prefers tranquility over loud noise. She started her training at age 10 and has been successful ever since. Adakichi is a geisha legend and although she has strayed from entertainment, she will occasionally appear in festivals and teahouses by special request. To be chosen as one of her underlings is a great honor. Adakichi is eager for the Sensaina hana to improve and progress. She is intrigued and fascinated with Western culture, so it can easily be said she yearns for it. Unlike many geisha, Adakichi is unashamed of her romantic endeavors, but she is also a master at hiding her emotions. She is smart and every word that comes from her mouth has been thought through carefully. She is willing to fight for what she believes in, no matter the consequence.
Brief Appearance: Adakichi is a short, slender woman with simple, yet refined style. She is very feminine in the way she presents herself and seems to always have on a shy-like expression. She has thick shoulder-length hair that she wears in a large bun with intricate hairpins. Adakichi owns a vast kimono collection she has gained from years of gifts. She does not wear the complete geisha makeup like she used to, but indulges a bit with her wardrobe.
