三日月宗近。打ち除けが多い故、三日月と呼ばれる。よろしくたのむ。 (Higashiyama-ku, Kyoto Application) 61dbc411

Name|名前:
三日月宗近・みかづきむねちか
Mikazuki Munechika, Munechika denoting Kokaji Munechika (小鍛冶宗近), and the name Mikazuki referring to the tachi's crescent-moon shaped uchinoke (打ち除け, the markings left from tempering a katana).

Representative of|代表:
京都東山区
The region in Kyoto now known as Higashiyama-ku

Gender|性別:
Male.

Age|年齢:
Looks to be a young adult between 25-27 years of age, while the tachi Mikazuki Munechika was forged in 989, meaning he would physically be 1,028 years old while present-day Higashiyama ward was separated from Shimogyou in 1929.

Brief personality|人格:
Polite, cultured, and articulate, Mikazuki is almost exactly like one of the Heian-period noblemen that would have wielded him. He's known to have quite a quick mind, despite his leisurely, mellow way of talking, and is perceived by most on first impression to be a very intelligent and charming man. In fact, his high levels of charisma is one of his most noticeable traits; it causes all manner of people to flock to him. This might mostly be because he's very long lived and therefore has many interesting stories to tell, and also because despite being a sword, a tool of war, Mikazuki is a gentle, peaceful soul and some have noted that being around him induces a calming effect.
Although he seems lofty and noble and almost perfect, Mikazuki really is just a silly old man at heart. Occasionally he behaves like a child, despite his "old man" speech pattern and he's actually quite clueless on technology and modern affairs, considering WW2 to be "news". Because of this he feels very at home in Higashiyama-ku (what was once his birthplace when Kyoto had been known as Heian-kyou), despite its modern renaming, because it's known to be a quieter neighbourhood than other urban areas in the Kansai region of Japan.
As Mikazuki is a tranquil, relaxed individual and, according to himself, an old man or じじ he tends to prefer activities of the same nature such as tea ceremony, 囲碁 (go), shoji, Chinese chess, and practicing traditional instruments like koto, shamisen, and biwa although occasionally he does enjoy a nice loud match of mahjong.

Brief physical description|外観:
Known as one of the tenga goken or "Five Swords Under Heaven", Kokaji's masterpiece was famed for its beauty and unique crescent-moon tempering pattern. Mikazuki personified is no different; standing at 180 centimetres (or 5 ft 11 inches) and being quite toned from exercise and training, Mikazuki has an impressive figure, although he's still relatively slender and elegant. His sleek, black neck-length hair forms a stark contrast against the smooth porcelain-white of his skin, asymmetrical bangs framing an elegant face with well-defined features: thin, arching eyebrows, a high, narrow-bridged nose and thin, light-coloured lips, usually seen curved upwards in a charming half smile. Mikazuki's eyes are noted to be quite an unusual colour; clear sky-blue, with a gold, crescent moon-shaped marking on the lower half of each iris. His eyes are noted to be almond-shaped and slightly feline, but he doesn't squint.
Mikazuki's dress code is also one of his important defining features. Preferring traditional dress, his formal attire consists of a double-tiered blue and white sayagata-pattterned kimono with full-length sleeves, gold embellishments, black gloves, and an intricate black and gold frog-collar at this throat. However, he does have plainer kimonos and a few sets of modern clothes for regular occasions, as well as a set of "work-clothes" for gardening and housework, which consists of a yellow bandanna to hold back his long hair, a short navy-blue kimono tunic and matching pants worn over a pale grey turtleneck sweater, white socks and sandals.
Most of the time, no matter what occasion, Mikazuki can be seen with his signature black and gold-tasseled headband. He has two; one for everyday wear, and one with white fabric flowers on it for cherry blossom season.

Brief history|歴史說明:
Modern-day Higashiyama-ku
Interposed between the Kamo River and the Higashiyama mountain range, Higashiyama-ku is roughly bounded by the Sanjō street in the north, and the Jūjō street in the south. Historically, this area lay outside the official boundaries of the city of Kyoto. The western part consists mainly of residential areas, whereas the eastern part is covered by forests. In the north, between the Kamo River and Higashi-oji street, there is a commercial district, and in the south there is a semi-industrial zone. Higashiyama-ku was created in 1929 when it was split off from Shimogyō-ku. During the years 1931 to 1976 it also covered the area of present-day Yamashina-ku, which was an independent town until its merger into the city in 1931. The name literally means "Eastern Mountain District".
Due to the restrictions against urban development, the population inside the ward is continually decreasing. Higashiyama-ku has the lowest population of all the wards in Kyoto, and a disproportionate number of elderly people.

~Wikipedia, Higashiyama-ku.

Medieval/feudal Japan and Kokaji Munechika
The historical geisha district Gion is also located in Higashiyama ward, and the Heian-era swordsmith Kokaji Munechika had lived and worked on Sanjou Avenue (Kokaji's masterpiece Mikazuki Munechika is now in possession of the Tokyo National Museum). Kokaji was also said to have created a tachi (long sword) named Kogitsunemaru (小狐丸) for the Emperor of Japan with the assistance of the kami Inari (god of rice, agriculture, and foxes). However, nowadays, whether or not such a sword was ever created by Kokaji is not confirmed as neither Kogitsunemaru or the sword's remains were ever discovered. The story of Kogitsunemaru ended up inspiring a popular Kabuki play known as "Kokaji" as well as a song/poem.

Religious affiliation|宗教:
Shinto.

Any special powers or abilities|特別な能力:
Skilled with a sword and has a very long memory, due to how long he's lived for.
Also noted to have an extraordinarily charming smile, which Mikazuki's friends usually attribute to his "ikemen powers". It's not known whether Mikazuki knows what "ikemen" means, given his ignorance to anything he defines as "those damn millennials".

Theme song|主題歌:
夢現乱舞抄、板垣奏太郎。("Mugen Ranbu Shou", sung by Itagaki Soutarou.)

Lyrics (English/Japanese)|歌詞(英訳・日本語):

Mikazuki's colour on the chatbox is #1F4788 or Ruri-iro (瑠璃色, "lapis-lazuli colour").
