Just some words I feel compelled to share

Hello all. This post may seem a bit random, but since I am much older than you all and many of you are young women, some of whom have talked to me about your boy problems, I feel compelled to share this with you. Last night, I was physically assaulted by a drunken man. I was out with friends and this individual was among us. He was trying to forcibly make out with my roommate while she was drunk even though she kept telling him to stop. I stepped in to intervene and he got angry and violent and punched me square in the face. I began bleeding from a ring he was wearing and now have a black eye. I am fine now and went to the police today and everything is okay, but I'm telling you all this because I want you all as young women to take a lesson from my experience. Do not EVER let any man lay his hands on you aggressively in any way. I don't care if he's your father, brother, boyfriend, friend, or someone you don't even know; no man anywhere ever has any right to treat a woman in such a way. Even if he just pushes or shoves you, grabs you roughly, pulls your hair, IT IS WRONG. It doesn't matter if he was drunk, high, angry, out of his mind, whatever, there is never any excuse for that kind of behavior. IT IS STILL WRONG, ALWAYS, PERIOD. Even if he apologizes after and says it will never happen again, that isn't good enough. He is not worthy of you. It is NEVER your fault and you NEVER deserve it no matter what you've done to make him so angry. You are all strong, intelligent, beautiful young women and you do not deserve to be treated in such a way by any man. Even if it's your boyfriend or someone else you love or care about, you are better than that and deserve better, especially from someone who supposedly cares about you. If a man ever physically assaults you in any way or is doing so now, I urge you all to seek help. Tell someone, go to the police, make sure that he can never do that to you or any other woman ever again. Guys, all of you on here are great young men and I feel confident that none of you would ever do anything like this, but just a reminder that women are always to be treated with kindness, gentility, and above all, respect. You're all lovely young people, take care of yourselves.
