| Subject: Pride Is Better Than The Other Sins. Fri Dec 11, 2015 6:44 pm | |
| Name: 1st Lifetime: Aeolus Séamus Sunil 2nd Lifetime: Archibald Severin Sedric 3rd Lifetime: Aethelric Superbia Svæthil
Representative of: Pride
Gender: Male
Age: Human: 21 Historical: First mention as a deadly sin in the bible, yet pride has been around forever.
Brief personality: Aethelric is known to publicly bask in his own glory as well as humiliate others. He’s not always a total asshole, but he occasionally abuses his powers to embarrass others. He usually keeps to himself because he fucks up every time he tries to make friends. He has pictures of himself in his room, but he would never let anyone see it. Because he always wants to be the very best, he challenges anyone any time they do something great. His ego is easily damaged, and he often tries to defend his true intentions. Despite all of this, the real reason why he tries to prove himself better than others is because he’s actually really insecure about himself.
Brief physical description: He has messy, medium-length, dirty blonde hair and grey eyes. The whites of his eyes are black, and he has pitch black horns and a tail. He wears a dark grey trench coat and a white button down shirt with a pitch black necktie. His trousers are pitch black and are tucked into his dark grey knee-high boots. He is extremely tall, at 7’6”. He has a floating crown above his head to signify he's the King of the sins, associated with the devil himself.
- Appearance:
Brief history: Pride is considered, on almost every list, the original and most serious of the seven deadly sins: the source of the others. It is identified as believing that one is essentially better than others, failing to acknowledge the accomplishments of others, and excessive admiration of the personal self. It also includes vainglory which is unjustified boasting. Dante’s definition of pride was “love of self-perverted to hatred and contempt for one’s neighbour”. In Jacob Bidermann’s medieval miracle play, Cenodoxus, pride is the deadliest of all the sins and leads directly to the damnation of the titulary famed Parisian doctor. In perhaps the best-known example, the story of Lucifer, pride (his desire to compete with God) was what caused his fall from Heaven, and his resultant transformation into Satan. In Dante's Divine Comedy, the penitents are burdened with stone slabs on their necks which force them to keep their heads bowed. The devil himself is associated with pride, as stated before.
His virtue is Humility.
Religious affiliation: Pride is associated with many religions, but Christianity would have to be top of the list.
Any special powers or abilities: He can levitate as well as see into, alter, and erase anyone's memories.
