BEFORE I SAY ANYTHING ELSE: please, please keep the amount of sinning to a bare minimum ^^"
BUT, if shit does start getting sinful I'm more than happy to open a skype/chatzy group (or you guys can get off your arses and do it yourself)

"Yoshiwara (吉原) was a famous yūkaku (遊廓、遊郭, pleasure district, red-light district) in Edo, present-day Tōkyō, Japan.

In the early 17th century, there was widespread male and female prostitution throughout the cities of Kyoto, Edo, and Osaka. To counter this, an order of Tokugawa Hidetada of the Tokugawa shogunate restricted prostitution to designated city districts. These districts were Shimabara for Kyōto (1640), Shinmachi for Ōsaka (1624–1644) and Yoshiwara for Edo (1617). A leading motive for the establishment of these districts was the Tokugawa shogunate attempt to prevent the nouveau riche chōnin (townsmen) from engaging in political intrigue."

Roles
"People involved in mizu shōbai (水商売) ("the water trade") would include hōkan (comedians), kabuki (popular theatre of the time), dancers, dandies, rakes, tea-shop girls, Kanō (painters of the official school of painting), courtesans who resided in seirō (green houses) and geisha in their okiya houses."

Courtesans
"The courtesans would consist of yūjo (women of pleasure/prostitutes), kamuro (young female students), shinzō (senior female students), hashi-jōro (lower-ranking courtesans), kōshi-jōro (high-ranking courtesans just below tayū), tayū (high-ranking courtesans), oiran, yarite (older chaperones for an oiran), and the yobidashi who replaced the tayū when they were priced out of the market."
Role Application:

Geisha/Geiko
"In addition to courtesans, there were also geisha/geiko, maiko (apprentice geishas), otoko geisha (male geishas), danna (patrons of a geisha), and okaasan (geisha teahouse managers). The lines between geisha and courtesans were sharply drawn, however - a geisha was never to be sexually involved with a customer, though there were exceptions."

Name:
Birth name- Seon Mikazuki 宣三日月
Courtesan name- Mikazuki Munechika 三日月宗近
Gender:
Male.
Age:
24.
Rank:
Koushi-jouro.
Personality traits:
Optimistic- Mikazuki always puts on a brave face and tries to look on the bright side no matter what happens. Nothing ever seems to dampen his smile, and as a result he seems to be a very patient, carefree, and laid-back individual.
Gentle- To his clients, Mikazuki appears to be gentle and delicate, fragile, even- but he's much tougher than he looks and acts. He's also very fond of the apprentices and constantly gives them advice or spoils them by sneaking in treats such as sweets or occasionally sake.
Mysterious- He seems to enjoy speaking in riddles, or in some other way not being straight-forward which sometimes comes off as infuriating. At any rate he prefers to live at his own pace.
Charismatic- One of his main selling points, many a customer has been allured by his quiet, witty charm.
Physical Description:
Mikazuki was naturally gifted with good looks; silky black hair, cut at just the right length, his bangs slightly longer and framing his face, fair and flawless skin like the moon, blue eyes with gold crescent-moon shaped markings on the bottom of each iris, proportionately long legs and pale, full lips. Being a courtesan he's not exactly muscular, but his body is fairly toned. His style of dress is very traditional yet stylish, consisting of various elaborate kimonos and yukata mostly in varying shades of blue with gold embroidery and usually tied quite loosely with a simple sash so that the garment partially slips off his shoulders, giving clients a tantalizing view of his skin and to facilitate the removal of his clothing
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)- he is a courtesan, after all~

(WORK IN PROGRESS)
Name:
Birth name- Miyaura Katsumi 宮蒲勝美
Geisha name- Tsurukichi Mizki 鶴吉みずき
Gender:
Female.
Age:
It would make sense if she were older than 27, but she appears 17 or younger (because she's short and has a childlike face with no visible signs of aging).
Rank:
Oka-san.
Personality traits:
Determined- when Mizki wants something badly, she's usually able to obtain it. She'll try, through whatever means possible, to get her way. Of course, she knows her limits and the line between right and wrong.
Strict- she's quite stern and occasionally viewed as harsh or insensitive by those under her; heck, even her maid has a mild dislike for her.
Intuitive
Physical Description:
Danna:
Ichigo Hitofuri (to be confirmed with Sofa....?)
Backstory:
Little of Mizki's backstory is known, except that she came to Edo from a rural village and (this is not common knowledge, known only to the select few she deems trustworthy; it wouldn't do if her clients knew) was widowed at the age of sixteen, having only been married for less than two months before her husband passed away from an infected wound.
